World Book Day

World Book Day is today, April 23rd offers an opportunity to celebrate reading which connects us with authors and their fictional characters from different corners of the globe, allowing us to inhabit distant countries and other lives in our imaginations.

Revisit events from last year’s Festival or watch them for the first time HERE.

For some adventurous literary experiences, you can't do better than explore this year's International Booker Prize short-list - fiction in translation from Korea, Norway, Japan, Spain, India and Poland. Wildly original works of literature, they all feature trauma, whether on an individual or societal level - hardly surprising in these strange times.
